Jason Teoh Choon Hui

A proud alumni of the Victoria Institution, Jason was called to the Malaysian Bar in 2008. Jason chambered under the tutelage of Mr. Wong Chong Wah, an esteemed member of the Malaysian Bar and subsequently practised in one of the largest firms in Malaysia until 2015. During this time, he was primarily engaged in trade remedies and civil litigation work.

Jason has represented foreign and local manufacturers, importers and exporters in trade remedy actions and acted as counsel to foreign exporters in every safeguards investigation initiated in Malaysia to date.

Jason was listed in the International Who’s Who of Trade & Customs Lawyers 2012 and recommended individually in the International Who’s Who of Trade & Customs Lawyers 2016 as “a super-talented young lawyer who will become a leading name in the region.” He was also commended for “excellent logical composition of his arguments” and his “strong strategic awareness”. In 2017, Jason was awarded the ILO Client Choice Award for International Trade Practitioner of the Year (Malaysia). Jason is a proud member of the Strategic Alliance on WTO and Trade Remedies (SAWTR).

Jason has appeared as counsel or co-counsel before all levels of courts in Malaysia in a wide variety of legal disputes.

Juita Mohd Jamil

Juita Mohd Jamil, a Chartered Accountant registered with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants is Jason Teoh & Partner’s Trade Advisor.

Prior to joining Jason Teoh & Partners, Juita was part of the Malaysian Investigating Authority under the purview of the Trade Practices Section of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (“MITI”) from 2009 until January 2017.

During her tenure in MITI, Juita specialized in trade remedy investigations and was involved in all anti-dumping and safeguards investigations initiated by Malaysia and also participated in trade remedy cases initiated by other countries against Malaysia.

Juita is fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

  • Conducted full trials in the Malaysian Sessions Court and High Court.

  • Counsel in a civil suit arising from an allegedly fraudulent RM8 million land transaction in the Malaysian High Court, Court of Appeal and Federal Court where we succeeded in defending our client.
  • Counsel in a Section 176 Petition and an application for a Restraining Order on behalf of a public listed company for its restructuring scheme.
  • Co-counsel in the recovery of a RM113 million arbitration award which was made in favour of the client. Follow up recovery efforts include filing claims against the holding company of the judgment debtor under the principle of “lifting of corporate veil” to attach liability.
  • Co-counsel in a defamation suit arising from the inquiry process on the Malaysian division of a foreign accountancy professional body.
  • Co-counsel in the Court of Appeal case of Lim Soon Heng v Tan Beng Choo (P) [2009] MLJU 261 which involved a heavily contested family dispute where we succeeded in setting aside and varying the maintenance order on behalf of our client.
  • Co-counsel in a High Court fraud case involving negotiations for variation of an injunction order.
  • Assisted in various land acquisition claims for increased compensation, claims for injurious affection and severance.
