A proud alumni of the Victoria Institution, Jason was called to the Malaysian Bar in 2008. Jason chambered under the tutelage of Mr. Wong Chong Wah, an esteemed member of the Malaysian Bar and subsequently practiced in one of the largest firms in Malaysia until 2015. During this time, he was primarily engaged in trade remedies and civil litigation work.
Jason has represented foreign and local manufacturers, importers and exporters in trade remedy actions and acted as counsel to foreign exporters in every safeguards investigation initiated in Malaysia to date.
Jason is listed in the Whoʼs Who of Trade & Customs Lawyers 2012, 2016 to 2019. He was individually recommended in the International Whoʼs Who of Trade & Customs Lawyers 2016 as “a super-talented young lawyer who will become a leading name in the region.” He was also commended for “excellent logical composition of his arguments” and his “strong strategic awareness”.
In 2017, Jason was awarded the ILO Client Choice Award for International Trade Practitioner of the Year (Malaysia).
Jason is a proud member of the Strategic Alliance on WTO Law and Trade Remedies Practitioners (SAWTR) .
Jason has appeared as counsel or co-counsel before all levels of courts in Malaysia in a wide variety of legal disputes. Jason is fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
Li Hoong was called to the Malaysian Bar in 2008. Li Hoong completed her pupillage in Skrine and practiced in the same firm until 2015. During this time, she was primarily engaged in employment and immigration work.
Her practice included advising clients on a broad spectrum of employment related matters including recruitment, immigration requirements, performance management, misconduct management, human resource policies and procedures, employee data privacy, voluntary separation schemes, restructuring and retrenchment exercises. She has also advised clients on employee issues arising from mergers and acquisitions, acquisition and disposal of businesses, joint ventures and privatisations.
Li Hoong has appeared as counsel or co-counsel in hearings at the Labour Court; unjust dismissal trials and collective agreement disputes at the Industrial Court; judicial review applications and civil trials in the High Court; and appeals in the Court of Appeal and Federal Court.
Prior to joining the firm, Li Hoong was legal counsel of a multinational general insurance company. During this time, she provided support in the management and resolution of legal and operational issues. This included provision of legal and advisory support on projects, ventures, governance activities, regulator interactions, product development and marketing; drafted, reviewing and negotiation of all types of agreements; as well as the monitoring and supervision of corporate litigation.
In 2019, Li Hoong took on a role as an industrial relations practitioner in a local banking group and conducted investigations, handled disciplinary matters and grievances, and participated in collective bargaining on behalf of the group.
Li Hoong is fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
Juita Mohd Jamil, a Chartered Accountant registered with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants is Jason Teoh & Partner’s Trade Advisor.
Prior to joining Jason Teoh & Partners, Juita was part of the Malaysian Investigating Authority under the purview of the Trade Practices Section of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (“MITI”) from 2009 until January 2017.
During her tenure in MITI, Juita specialized in trade remedy investigations and was involved in all anti-dumping and safeguards investigations initiated by Malaysia and also participated in trade remedy cases initiated by other countries against Malaysia.
Juita is fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
